Spalletti receives honorary citizenship of Naples, with De Laurentiis

The Italian coach: “It has an enormous meaning for me. It certifies the bond between me and the Neapolitans. Now I’m an… official street urchin”

Crowd of journalists, authorities and some fans who managed to attend the ceremony conferring honorary citizenship of the city of Naples on Luciano Spalletti, elegant and smiling on the stage of the Sala dei Baroni alongside Mayor Manfredi while Aurelio De Laurentiis observed them from the audience. The honor of the Laudatio fell to the Sicilian Professor, who praised a now Neapolitan coach in all respects complete with a tattoo of the third tricolor on his arm. Manfredi also recalled Spalletti’s importance for Naples, defining him as a “special citizen” for what he was able to give to the Neapolitans.

what a beauty

After the official resolution, the parchment and the medal from the city of Naples, Spalletti signed the city’s book of honor and finally took the floor. “I feel a strong responsibility, I thank the mayor and the entire municipal council; my thoughts go to all the collaborators of Calcio Napoli who worked with me last season, I thank the director Giuntoli and the president De Laurentiis but above all the players who are the creators of that beauty that came out last season forcing everyone to send those images around the world. I feel an indescribable emotion and I don’t know if I deserve all this because I had a very strong team and it was possible, as has been said, for anyone to win,” he said, throwing a dig at the Napoli president.

officially street urchin

Then, Spalletti got sentimental: “When I became manager of Napoli they told me that it was now difficult to fill the stadium, but instead Maradona has been filled with blue hearts for two years. Having convinced the Neapolitans to return to their home is one of the most important victories we have achieved. Now the least I can say is that Naples is also my home and I am officially a street urchin.”

creepy video

Spalletti finally showed a video he made to the players to thank them and which he had never taken out. A mix of wonderful images, including private ones, which really moved the audience to the point that even De Laurentiis had to stand up to hug him and take the stage by telling about a documentary film that will be released on Napoli’s third tricolor. “The scudetto will be repeatable – said the president – but you cannot, except through cheating, win every year because the conditions are different, the players are perhaps satisfied or frustrated and don’t perform at the same level or it simply doesn’t happen to win again because rivals get stronger. Luciano was a great commander and an exemplary motivator, as he is now Neapolitan we will call him for any type of advice”, concluded the Napoli president. “He comes from cinema and shows it every time. It’s like being in a horror film – joked Spalletti – you always hope that it’s over and it’s the last scene, then it reappears. But thank you very much to the president…”.

championship film

De Laurentiis has announced that the film about the scudetto will arrive. “We have been working for 7 months to give the city of Naples 4 hours” of documentary “on the last championship, the best among England, Italy, France and the United States are working on it. We hope towards the month of February , because they are very complex processes, they are not easy things.”
