Spain’s worst June heat wave since 1950: 25,000 hectares already reduced to ashes by forest fires

Spain is experiencing its worst June heat wave since 1950 with temperatures locally exceeding 44 degrees. In the cities, people sought refreshment in fountains, ice cream parlors and air-conditioned shopping malls. The beaches were already full in the early afternoon. A major forest fire in northwestern Spain has already reduced approximately 25,000 hectares to ashes.
