Soccer world champion Jenni Hermoso is returning to the Spanish national team after the scandal involving former association president Luis Rubiales.
This emerges from the squad that new coach Montse Tome called up on Wednesday for the Nations League games against Italy (October 27th) and Switzerland (October 31st).
Change in leadership
Hermoso was kissed on the mouth by Rubiales at the award ceremony after the World Cup final victory. The case sparked a storm of indignation around the world, and the world champions temporarily went on strike.
Rubiales stubbornly remained in office at first, but then gave up under great pressure. He is also not allowed to approach Hermoso or make contact with her. The controversial world champion coach Jorge Vilda was fired as part of the World Cup review.
