Spain rushed to become the European champion of basketball. In the final, France fell with a score of 88–76.
Juancho Hernangomez was Spain’s power player with 27 points. He comfortably knocked down seven of nine three-point attempts.
Spain, suffering from the loss of a star, was not the hot favorite during the tour, but no bomb championship is. Spain has now won six championships in this millennium: World Cup gold in 2006 and 2019, European Championship gold in 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2022.
Finland was one of the victims of Spain. Finland led the quarter-final with nine points at the break, but seasoned Spain took the semi-place with 100-90 points.
Spain’s only loss in the EC final tournament came to the not-so-great Lent country Belgium in the third round of the initial group.
