Guillem Cabestany’s men will face France in the quarterfinal match
The azulgrana Nil Roca gave life to the team with two consecutive goals after conceding the Angolan goal
The Spanish roller hockey team fulfilled the forecast against Angola, which they defeated 1-5 in a boring match that closed the first phase of the World Championship that takes place in San Juanand will face France in the quarterfinals as second classified in group B.
The first half was unexpected for Spanish interests, because, despite an initial goal from Pau Bargalló, Angola immediately responded with a goal from Nationalized Argentine veteran Martín Payeroformer player of the Liceo de A Coruña, team leader and one of those responsible for the advancement of hockey in the African country, of Portuguese descent.
The Angolan goal weighed on Spain, and surprisingly focused more on defending than attacking, which allowed the Africans to skate with some comfort near Sergi Fernández, but without success to move the scoreboard, until the entrance of Nil Roca revolutionized the game of the selection, with two goals in five minutes that relieved the Red.
After intermission, the match entered a boring phase, with few dangerous plays for the Spanish team despite dominating calmly, while Angola disappeared completely, coming to commit a single foul in the entire match, for only five of Guillem Cabestany’s.
In the final stretch, Spain, which as in the two previous matches moved their entire bench to better dose their forces, finished off the job with two individual moves by Ferran Font and Marc Julià.
The team will open the quarterfinals tomorrow, at 18:30 peninsular time, against France, who in the first round added a victory against Chile, tied with Italy and suffered a severe defeat with Portugal.
