Spain and Sweden in the semi-finals of the European Handball Championship

Bratislava (dpa) – After defending champion Spain, record champion Sweden has also reached the semi-finals of the European Handball Championship. In a gripping duel, the Swedes prevailed against Norway in Bratislava with 24:23 (9:14).

The Swedes’ best thrower was Valter Chrintz from Füchsen Berlin with six goals, for the Norwegians Harald Reinkind from THW Kiel was also the most successful with six goals. Norway’s superstar Sander Sagosen (also THW Kiel) missed the chance of a draw shortly before the end, which would have been enough for the Norwegians to reach the knockout stages.

Spain had previously won their final main round match against Poland 28:27 (14:13) and thus reached a European Championship semi-final for the sixth time in a row. World champions Denmark were the first team to make it into the semi-finals on Monday.
