Transfer confirmed
Four and a half years after the sale of Lautaro Martínez to Inter Milan, Racing has again sold a homegrown talent to Europe for an eight-figure sum. Midfielder Carlos Alcaraz (20) joins Southampton FC. His training club called the figures for the lucrative deal, which is not yet completely dry.
According to the club from Avellaneda near Buenos Aires, the 18-time Argentine champion will receive a transfer fee of 13.65 million euros. Only the fee for Martínez, who was also 20 when he left, was higher at €25m. Racing will also have a 15 percent share in the profit of a possible later resale.
There was initially no confirmation of the transfer from the English club, but it is probably not yet entirely certain. According to the transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano signed the necessary documents, but the medical check is still pending, which may take place on Tuesday.
