South Korean parliament bans dog slaughter and sale of dog meat

The parliament in South Korea has unanimously voted in favor of a law banning the slaughter and sale of dogs for their meat from 2027. Dog meat has been eaten in the country for centuries, but Koreans hardly eat it anymore and especially young Koreans avoid it. The elderly in particular regard bosintang, a soup with dog meat, as a delicacy.
