South Korea wants to support North Korea if it gives up nuclear weapons | Abroad

The South Korean president said denuclearization is “essential” for lasting peace on the Korean peninsula and on Monday offered food, energy and assistance to modernize North Korea’s infrastructure in exchange for nuclear disarmament. Yoon made the statement during a speech celebrating Japan’s liberation in 1945.

North Korea has tested a record number of missiles in the past year. Seoul and Washington say it appears the country is getting ready to conduct a nuclear weapons test for the first time since 2017.
