The station LM Radio, which can be heard in South Africa and in the neighboring country Mozambique, wants to bring “lifelong musical memories” to the listeners’ ears, according to its own slogan. One song the station recently played may actually be remembered, but in a rather unintended way: the station apologized for playing comedy glam metal band Steel Panther’s “Gloryhole.”

The song from the album “All You Can Eat” (2014) is, well, about a glory hole, so the lyrics are correspondingly slippery. Rather nothing for the afternoon radio. That’s why LM Radio quickly apologized. “On behalf of LM Radio, I would like to offer my unreserved apologies for the Steel Panthers song ‘Glory Hole’ that was played just after 2 p.m. yesterday,” the statement said “loudwire.com” saved by screenshot.

Along with other Steel Panthers songs, the title was not loaded onto the server by manual selection. “If too little music has been entered for an hour, the system automatically selects songs to fill the hour. Unfortunately, ‘Glory Hole’ was the song the system picked,” the broadcaster explained the mishap.

“We immediately deleted ALL Steel Panther songs from our servers,” the broadcaster’s rep continued. “Once again, my apologies and I assure you that the content of the song does not resonate with who we are as a radio station and as individuals.”

Steel Panther itself apparently became aware of the statement that spread on social media. “You say, ‘Sorry,’ we say, ‘You’re welcome,'” the band wrote on Facebook. Incidentally, if the radio system had picked another song by the band, it probably wouldn’t have helped much: other song titles on “All You Can Eat” include “Pussywhipped” or “Gangbang at the Old Folks Home.”
