Finnish striker Lauri Pajuniemi is leaving North America behind, at least for the time being.

Swedish Expressen’s according to information, Pajuniemi would be moving to the ranks of the SHL club Malmö Redhawks.

Pajuniemi has attracted the interest of many SHL clubs, but Malmö has reached an agreement with him.

Pajuniemi, 23, has played the last two seasons in the New York Rangers organization. Before that, he impressed in the Turku Palloseura shirt. However, the NHL debut has been missed.

Pajuniemi has played 68 regular season games with the Rangers’ AHL club Hartford Wolfpack this season, with an output of 19+19=38.

According to Expressen, the acquisition of Pajuniemi will be announced when the Wolfpack’s season is over. Hartford will face the Providence Bruins in the second round of the playoffs. Pajuniemi has scored 2+1 power points in two playoff matches.

Pajuniemi was effective before his NHL contract in TPS and forged 26+14=40 power points in the 2019–2020 season. He was also part of TPS’ silver team the following season.

Malmö announced earlier in April that they had acquired another Finnish player, when Janne Kuokkanen joins the club from the Swiss ranks of Fribourg-Gotteron.
