The police have arrested an internationally-acclaimed Premier League player on suspicion of rape in North London, reports Telegraph.
The suspected crime took place last month. According to the police, the victim is a woman in her 20s. The newspaper cannot reveal the player’s name for legal reasons, but he is still over 20 years old.
The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Monday at his home in Barnet. The player’s club is aware of the matter, but did not comment on the situation to the Telegraph.
According to the Telegraph, the player is internationally known and it is not yet clear if he can play in the team’s practice matches.
The Premier League season starts on August 5 and according to the Telegraph, the player is also expected to play in the World Cup in Qatar in November.
