Soundos El Ahmadi demolishes Susan Smit in a public mega-quarrel. She even calls on Zarayda Groenhart to cancel the writer for an event. “Spare your white tears!”
It seems that the happy meeting between Soundos El Ahmadi and Susan Smit at the Milkshake festival in 2015 did not result in friendship. Two years later, Susan posted a pretty spicy tweet about Soundos’ participation in Expedition Robinson and the cabaret artist blames her for that, another six years later.
Back and forth
At the time, Susan questioned how Soundos played the Robinson game. “Celebrities who think they can help their career by working through Expeditie Robinson like a nasty, underhanded person. How?”, she tweeted.
TV colleague Leonie ter Braak then rioted: “Who who who ??? ?”
Susan again: “Something about the intention to ‘make friends’ and then ‘stick knives in your back’.”
Soundos strikes back
Now, almost six years later, Soundos gets angry when she sees that Susan has been invited by her good friend Zarayda Groenhart to some women’s event. She blames Susan for allegedly participating in social media’s “Soundos hate” with these tweets. “People who didn’t know me didn’t understand my humor at first.”
She continues on Instagram: “Susan is one of those people who also competed and tweeted about me being an opportunist after joking around in the jungle, after ‘squabbling’ with a fellow candidate in front of the camera for a while, that we should go back to the group ‘to destroy human lives’. This was clearly a joke to me.”
Knife in the back
Susan clearly saw it differently. “That was enough for her to join the ‘we hate Soundos’ tweets. I found this very disappointing,” said Soundos. “Because not long before, I saw her at the Milkshake festival and she was sad because her husband had left her. She had asked, “Can I please stay with you?” But of course!”
Soundos offered a listening ear. “Not really ideal if you want to go wild at a festival, but it’s the right thing to do. I will never forget that she participated in the smear a few months later and I found it very painful. Susan is an inspiration to women who stab other women in the back. I would invite another speaker and cancel this woman.”
Risk of breakdown
Susan points out that she never mentioned Soundos’ name in that tweet. “I see you as a sweet person and I didn’t see that at all in that program. Just like with my best friend, who participated last year, by the way. The risk of breakdown is enormous. I also remember that festival exactly, and also how very sweet you were.”
She continues: “A completely different person from the defense mechanisms that come up in such an intense program. That was exactly my surprise. (…) Your way was hard and cynical in it and that didn’t rhyme at all with how I got to know you. And indeed: after that you still have to continue with your career.”
“Anyway: I hope we meet again sometime and then I will come to you right away, if that is okay with you.”
“You participated!”
These soothing words are of no use to Soundos. “I know what you are doing now and please don’t insult my intelligence. Everyone hated me, you joined in the fun and now you withdraw because you act tough on Twitter but actually can’t handle it at all. That’s the story. Don’t put the responsibility on me.”
She continues: “Classic case of gaslighting so that I get angry and she can show that I am the perpetrator as an aggressor. She can spare those white tears and wash her beautiful blonde hair. I won’t fall for it ? (…) If you see me in real life, you can apologize and I will accept it as a woman.”
“Otherwise I will never work or hang with you because you have shown how quick you are to drop someone for a bit clout and attention on Twitter. Bye.”
