‘Sorry, I can’t pull this’

Britt Dekker lashes out at Georgina Verbaan. She finds it unbelievable that the actress sympathizes with the hostage taker who turned the Apple Store upside down. “Sorry, I can’t take this.”

The entire center of Amsterdam was turned upside down last night because a 27-year-old Amsterdammer took a British tourist hostage in the Apple Store. The drama ended after nearly six hours after the hostage ran out. The assailant ran after him, after which he was run over by the police. Very sad, says Georgina Verbaan.

Britt destroys Georgina

Georgina’s full tweet read: “Weird night. Still very sad that that man was hit.” Who wholeheartedly agreed with her? Halina Rein. She replied, “Yes.”

That reaction is disgusting, according to Britt Dekker. “A lifelong trauma to a hostage situation, that is bad. I feel sorry for these kinds of extremely violent perpetrators, sorry I can’t take this.”

Britt goes the extra mile on Instagram: “You know what’s bad about Georgina? When you spend hours in agony in a closet or being held at gunpoint by a hostage taker and you think you might not survive. That’s to it.”

Georgina reacts

Georgina doesn’t understand Britt’s vehement reaction. She replies: “If I were thinking according to your reasoning, I would say that you look angrier to me than the perpetrator. But I don’t. As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t have to be so black and white. Let’s all agree that it was all bad and that the police handled it well.”

Volkskrant columnist Sheila Sitalsing said: “Most people are not that smart and will go crazy if you don’t stick to the script.”

dyantha sneezes

Britt is not the only well-known Dutchman who lashes out at Georgina. Shownieuws presenter Dyantha Brooks also places a critical remark on Georgina’s tweet: “Yes ok. All right, Georgina.”

It makes Georgina very tired: “I don’t like the fact that people confuse empathy with sympathy. I don’t like the fact that nothing is allowed to coexist here, that it can be both terrible what someone does and that you can find it unpleasant to see how a person – apart from his actions – is hit.”
