After a two-year break, racing driver Sophia Flörsch is returning to single-seater racing. The 22-year-old from Munich will start for the PHM Racing team in the coming Formula 3 season. This was announced by the Berlin racing team on Thursday.
Flörsch, who was injured in a serious accident in Macau in November 2018, has competed in various long-distance championships over the past two years.
“My goal has always been to ride with the best of the best. Since the beginning of my career, I’ve been working very hard towards this goal every day with my team in the background,” said Flörsch, who has repeatedly shared her dream of promotion in the past had spoken in Formula 1. She was “really excited and very happy” to return to single-seater racing.
Flörsch was already active in Formula 3 in 2020, when she did not get a point in the Campos Racing car. She then competed in the DTM and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, among others.
The Formula 3 season starts in Bahrain (March 3rd to 5th) and comprises a total of ten race weekends.
