With red-green-red fare dodgers have free rides! The Senate thinks substitute prison sentences for fines are unfair and wants to change the laws.

A special regulation expired on Tuesday – hardly any replacement prison sentences were imposed because of Corona.

Justice Senator Lena Kreck (41, left) considers it unfair. She calls for a “decriminalization of driving without a ticket”.

Objection to the opposition! “If you take away this sanction option from the state, the penalty would be in vain,” said Alexander Herrmann (46, CDU).

Holger Krestel (66, FDP) sees it similarly: “If it were abolished, an act to be sanctioned would lead to impunity. What is the point of buying a ticket at all if there are no consequences for not buying it?”
