Soon a digital ballot paper in nine West Flemish municipalities

A better and inclusive e-service for all Flemish people through better digital services at the local authorities, that is the goal of ‘Municipality without Town Hall’. The digital ballot paper is now being produced from a collaboration of 38 municipalities. There are nine municipalities in West Flanders. All other Flemish cities and municipalities will also be given the opportunity to participate.

Minister Somers: “In addition to the traditional paper ballot paper, digital ballot papers will also be broadcast in these municipalities. Efficiency, privacy and ease of use are central to this.”

What about paper ballot paper?

The traditional paper ballot paper will still arrive in the mailbox. “Because it is important that everyone can participate, even those who are less involved with digitization,” it sounds.

The digital ballot paper ensures that voters receive an extra reminder and offers a reassuring solution for those who, for example, lose their paper ballot paper or simply find it easier digitally.

Where in West Flanders?

In our province you will certainly receive a digital ballot paper in Bruges, Deerlijk, Harelbeke, Knokke-Heist, Kortrijk, Ostend, Waregem, Wevelgem and Zwevegem.

Jasper Pillen, alderman for Civil Affairs in Bruges: “Bruges is strongly committed to administrative simplification and customer-oriented, easily accessible services. It will also be no different before the elections.”

By the summer of 2024, it is the intention that you will no longer have to physically go to the town hall to register the birth of your child and the application for a marriage will also be possible digitally.
