Sonny Silooy played no fewer than 343 matches in the first team of Ajax. Due to injuries and bad luck, the defender was stuck with 25 international matches with the Dutch national team. It still hurts him that he was missing at the last minute at the so successful European Championship of 1988. “I have not played a final tournament. You miss that as a football player.”
Silooy (59) is a guest in De Aftrap with Hjalmar Hoekema, trainer of the futsal player of Volendam. Both guests shine their light on tomorrow evening’s top match PSV – AZ in the football talk show. “I hope that AZ can regain the form from the beginning of the competition. It would be nice if they could lift PSV’s feet,” said Hoekema, who was born in Alkmaar.
“PSV is of course in a flow”
Silooy thinks the AZ will have a hard time in Eindhoven. “PSV is of course in a flow. They have played a good series, with the ending against Ajax last Sunday.”
