A rich mom and dad, their wheelbarrow waiting and their own Canta: Sem van Dijk’s life seems to be a bed of roses. But that’s not true. “I’m being fined!”
The life of Sem van Dijk, the son of Wendy van Dijk and Xander de Buisonjé, turns out to be horrible. The boy is facing all kinds of problems because he is a celebrity and can hardly find a way out. He now finds refuge in reading out self-written rap lyrics and looks as if he had a very difficult childhood in The Bronx.
‘I am a human’
Sem, who has given himself an accent that only sounds funnier if you know where he grew up, is dead serious about his problems. “Famous parents, of course it has advantages, but you really don’t know how many judgments I get every day,” the star son raps. TikTok.
The people in the Netherlands will never know who Sem is. “I have to tell myself that not many people will know what I am like. Only Mickey knows me, his voice calms me down. You mention Van Dijk, but why does no one even say Sem? No one likes me, I’m just a human being, I make music to express my feelings, don’t do it for a trend.”
Fake gossip
Ordinary people will never understand Sem at all. “You think I’m lying, but you’re not used to it. I have to pay attention to what I do, always fake gossip and I never do it right. If I make a mistake I get fined in the media, that shit is weird right? But you don’t know what it feels like.”
Sem’s childhood was difficult. “I grew up in a time where everyone is looking at me. Not an opinion, but a fact. I’m in a battle with myself. When will I be publicly liberated? And before I’m in love with a girl, it’s all over the place online. You don’t know what that’s like for me body and my mind.”
Bag of chips
Oh, god, Sem’s body and mind are completely screwed up too. How could everyone have missed this? “You’re the one behind your screen with a bag of chips who really never understands that. I don’t have time to stress too much about a girl and I don’t even know if I want my son to look like me.”
Gosh, gosh, gosh. Wendy and Xander will probably love it all, but don’t they have to protect their son from himself a little? This boy grew up in luxury and now raps as if he grew up among rival drug gangs. Can someone at least demolish the WiFi signal from his Canta?
Exterior
Even at the tame RTL Boulevard they find Sem’s behavior ridiculous. “Yes, Rob, I think I’ve seen him twenty times. I think it’s quite something to start rapping about it, because he knows that everyone will immediately think something of it,” says presenter Luuk Ikink.
Rob Goossens: “I wonder if he knows that. I think he honestly thinks: I have a horrible internal life, people judge from the outside and should know.”
Sem wants to rap even more. Luuk: “More stories from the ghetto of Nigtevecht soon. We are curious.”
