Son doesn’t know why he was kicked out of his father’s band

Harry Waters played keyboard and organ in his father Roger Waters’ band for 14 years until he fired him in 2016. In an interview with the US Rolling Stone, Harry said that his father came to his house shortly before Christmas and the “Us + Them” tour to kick him out of the band.

In addition to his son, the singer fired everyone except keyboardist John Carin and guitarist Dave Kilminster. The 47-year-old still doesn’t know the exact reasons behind the band’s sudden change.

“I think he just wanted a change of blood, something new, something fresh. I’m not sure what his exact reasons were, but all but two people were fired. The other guys who were let go weren’t his son, so it was doubly painful for me.”

Harry Waters’ musical career

After being kicked out of his father’s band, Harry Waters pursued projects that had nothing to do with Pink Floyd. He founded a jazz band and for a while also composed the music for shows such as “Downton Abbey”.

He then went on tour with Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigad in early 2023, when the band covered songs from Pink Floyd’s 1977 album “Animals”. At first he was Brit Floyd’s manager until they invited him to make some guest appearances.

Brit Floyd is currently celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of The Dark Side Of The Moon with a series of multiple gigs. Harry will make a guest appearance alongside former Pink Floyd members Durga McBroom and Scott Page. PJ Olsson, lead singer of the Alan Parson Live Project, will also be there.
