The youth association

From the BZ editorial team

The Yorckstraße S-Bahn station is in a desolate condition. After the BZ reported about it four weeks ago, something is finally happening.

All the windows on the upper floor of the ticket hall were burst, leaving the building exposed to the elements. Now the Berlin S-Bahn has barricaded the windows with insulation boards. The further decay of the Yorckstraße station has stopped at least in this respect.

And construction work is also starting in the neighboring station building. That pleases Ibo Omari (42) from the youth association “The Cultural Heirs”, who wants to move into the house that once housed the pub “Zum Umsteiger”.

Omari: “We will present our concept to City Councilor Angelika Schöttler on August 18.” There will be a neighborhood workshop, tool rental, a bicycle repair service and a project room for youth work in the neighborhood.
