Solo on TT Circuit: Erwin Java plays Wilhelmus at World Superbike Championship

Erwin Java will come to the TT Circuit on Sunday. The former guitarist of Cuby + Blizzards will play the Wilhelmus on the grid at the Superbike World Championship.

Around a quarter to two, the blues celebrity from Assen will perform solo, just before the start of the sixth round of the world championship.

“Erwin Java is an iconic blues music figure, of course known from Cuby & the Blizzards. He will play a bit in the style of Jimi Hendrix at the Woodstock festival,” the organization announces. “It’s fantastic to be able to do it like this.”

The 66-year-old Java mainly gained fame as a guitarist of Cube and played with frontman Harry Muskee for a total of 25 years. Initially he filled in for Muskees solo band, but also in the mid-90s, when the band was on a revival started, Java kept playing with him.

On Saturday and Sunday, the TT Circuit will clear the way for the fifth and sixth round of the Superbike World Championship. For now, Álvaro Bautista has the best papers to become world champion. The season ends with games in Argentina on October 14 and 15.
