Soldiers practice in rubber boats on the Wilhelmina Canal

Anyone who sees soldiers sailing in rubber boats on the Wilhelmina Canal in Oirschot between Wednesday 22 and Wednesday 29 March does not have to raise the alarm immediately. The soldiers in training are busy with various exercises in the municipality that week.

In addition to the Wilhelmina Canal, you can therefore also encounter the military trainees in other places in Oirschot. During one of the exercises, they have to escape from so-called enemies, dressed in civilian clothes. There is also training at the Military Training Area Oirschotse Heide.

Traffic disruption
These types of exercises occur regularly in the vicinity of civilians. In this way, soldiers can practice with situations outside the training area. Local residents may experience traffic or noise nuisance during these types of exercises.

But that is not the case now, expect Defense and the municipality of Oirschot. The goal this week is mainly to practice escaping from so-called enemy territory.
