The driver of an army vehicle that overturned near Hoogersmilde last year will not be prosecuted. Several soldiers were injured in the accident.
“After studying the file, the public prosecutor has come to the conclusion that the driver of the vehicle has not made any culpable errors,” the Public Prosecution Service said. “The case has therefore been dismissed, so there will be no criminal prosecution. Those involved have been informed of this.”
On February 23 last year, things went terribly wrong on the site of the sand-lime brick factory on PR Roelfsema Rzn.-weg. The army vehicle drove off the embankment and fell three meters. Two injured soldiers were taken to hospital, three others were treated on the spot for their injuries.
According to Defense, the terrain in Hoogersmilde is regularly used for exercises.
