According to the AD, this is apparent from data from the Dutch network operators. The disruptions can form a significant obstacle to the energy transition, because the Dutch grid operators predict that many more households will have to deal with the failure of solar panels in the coming years.
This is because the panels are extremely popular due to the high electricity price. The number of houses with solar panels has increased fivefold in the past five years. One and a half million households have reported to the network operators to be able to supply electricity back. One in twenty houses with solar panels, the grid operators estimate, already suffers from failure due to excessive grid voltage. If more panels are installed in the street or district, the chance of malfunctions increases even more.
