Actor couple Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have separated after seven years of marriage and are getting divorced. It was a “difficult decision,” they say.
Vergara and Manganiello have an entertainment site Page Six sent a statement. We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people who love and care about each other very much, we politely ask that our privacy be respected at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
The Contemporary Familyactress is currently celebrating her 51st birthday in Italy with a group of friends, without Manganiello and without her wedding ring. That has already sparked rumors. Fans also reacted under the photos she posted on Instagram of the festivities, and Vergara herself added fuel to the fire by posting a photo with the cryptic caption “when life gives you lemons, you go to Italy to spend them.” press’. Magnaniello posted an old photo with which he wished Sofia a happy birthday, which fans found remarkable because he did not devote any loving words or emojis to it.
“Sofia and Joe have been growing apart for a while and are taking some distance from each other to think about their future,” a source close to the couple said. The two were last seen together in New York when Vergara visited Manganiello (46) on the set of his new film Nonnas.
Lavish wedding ceremony
The couple married in a lavish ceremony in November 2015 in front of 400 guests, including Reese Witherspoon, Channing Tatum, Vergara’s Contemporary Familycolleagues and Manganiellos TrueBloodco-stars.
Vergara, who has son Manolo, 31, with first husband Joe Gonzalez, and Manganiello first met at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2014 when she was engaged to businessman Nick Loeb. That engagement broke down a few weeks later, and Magnaniello immediately asked for her number.
“I knew pretty quickly that I could trust her and she knew pretty quickly that she could trust me. And we are both the kind of people who are capable of putting the other before ourselves. Once you have that, you don’t let go,” said the actor, also known from the film Magic Mike XXLabout that in an interview.
