Sofía “Jujuy” Jiménez: “I am a creator of dreams”

Sofía knows what she wants and takes firm steps towards that goal, without fear of the time she has to wait for it to happen. It is that the native of Jujuy learned that many times it is more important to know how to say “no” on time and leave the place so that the opportunities that really excite her come. Graduated in Social Communication, model, future astrologer and yoga instructor, she flows with a smile on her face and with less and less fear of what they will say. Along the way, she also met resentment and envy, love and heartbreak, but she focuses on the positive and pushes forward in her desire to continue building her career in the media.
News: How was your arrival in Buenos Aires?
Sofia “Jujuy” Jimenez:
I finished school in 2008 and spent a year living in Canada on an exchange, it was a great experience and in 2010 I landed in Buenos Aires, at the age of 19, I lived in a boarding house, they rented the room to a lady, it was an experience super moving, I came with a backpack full of dreams and illusions, I started studying Social Communication at the UBA, I knew that my dream was to work in the media. I had to have the tools to feel more secure and my parents asked me to have a university degree. But right away I started working with Nico Repetto in “Saturday Bus”.
News: That’s where they baptized her “Jujuy”.
Jimenez:
Yes, it was very crazy because during the week I went to study and on Saturdays I appeared on “Sábado Bus”. In the facu they were more “hippons” and I appeared almost in a bathing suit on TV. At that time it was normal, it was very natural to be scantily clad on TV.
News: Do you regret it?
Jimenez:
No, on the contrary, I appreciate the opportunity to have been able to work on such a successful program and on Telefe, which is the family channel. But when he began to occupy more hours, I changed to a private one, which allowed me to organize myself better. That program was leading to others and once I started, luckily I didn’t stop. I let myself go, always trusting what my heart dictated. If I look back it is very gratifying, I feel grateful and fortunate to be able to dedicate myself to what I love. I love feeling that I am a creator of dreams, I bring my dreams to reality, by dint of hard work, dedication, passion. It’s been almost 12 years since I’ve been working in the media and I’m very proud of what I’ve done and I want to go for more.
News: What did your family say?
Jimenez:
They have nothing to do with the media world, my father is an agricultural engineer and my mother is a lawyer, they were always very present, I always consulted with them on every decision I made. At one point they wanted to send me to Mexico from an agency, I had just arrived in Buenos Aires and I was excited, it seemed like a new opportunity, but my parents advised me not to do it, and that “no” from my parents was very Importantly, the moment I rejected that proposal came the possibility of making “Sábado Bus”. There are no marking a path.
News: Perhaps economically it was also tempting.
Jiménez: The economy was never my priority, I always let myself be carried away by what my heart told me, the money would come later
. My parents banked me with the rent from the boarding house and then I had just the right weight to take the bus to and from college, but everything that came later was the consequence of the love that I put into things. With the advice of my parents I realize the importance of that support, you have to know how to listen and not be closed to your own ideas. I never stopped studying, even though I was already earning very well, but I knew I wanted to finish my degree, fulfill my goal.
News: Do you think you are underestimated?
Jiménez: People will always underestimate
. There are all kinds, there are people who value you and hire you, but there are also people who do not know and are not interested in knowing a little more. There is also a lot of resentment. I met bad and dark feelings in peoplesomething that I know I do not want for my life.
News: A situation that she faced at work was with Horacio Cabak with whom she did not have a good experience sharing the hosting of a program and said that she was mistreated.
Jiménez: It was very hard, but I experienced it as a great learning
. I am a fresh, cheerful person and that is why they hire me too, beyond being able to get serious when the news calls for it, but people like my good energy. At that time I was not being able to show it. The good thing is that I was able to fulfill the three-month commitment of the channel that was hiring me. I could have left in January, I didn’t have to bank that when no one had ever treated me like that. I knew I had to finish what I started and that speaks to my professionalism.
News: What are the next dreams to fulfill?
Jimenez:
They mix up a lot. If I have to project myself 10 years, I would like to be as an established host in the media, stomping, that takes time. For this summer I had a lot of proposals to which I preferred to say no because I didn’t feel them, trusting that the work that bothers me will come. At the same time, I also started studying astrology, I’m going to start yoga instructorship.
News: Would you go for the information or entertainment side?
Jiménez: I like entertainment, spreading joy
. There are too many pale women on television. At the time I was able to work at Telenoche, which was a great work experience. At that moment they called me from “Bailando” and From the channel they offered me a career in the news as a journalist, but they told me that I had to choose because both things could not coexist. At that time I leaned towards the artistic, that decision also marked me.
News: How do you get along with the negative part of the networks?
Jimenez:
I like to receive the messages as from whom they come, I don’t believe all the love messages either because they come from people who don’t know me, like the bad vibes messages. I try not to get caught up in it. I also consider that it is a symptom that I am growing and expanding and it is part of the exhibition.
News: It was always shown as a couple, is it something you are looking for?
Jimenez:
Evidently I always liked being in a couple, I love life in company, I feel that it is more comforting, at least for me, I like life for two. Personally, I also always listened to myself, the couples I had were great companions, great teachers, of whom I will always be very grateful for what I experienced.
News: Recently your former partner, Juan Martín Del Potro, announced his retirement from tennis, did you contact him?
Jimenez:
I don’t want to talk too much about it because I respect him and his family a lot, I know that it is a very difficult moment, but I always have the best wishes and the best intentions, sending you all the love and light so that you can move forward.
News: Now how are you with love in your relationship with Bautista Bello?
Jimenez:
I am going through a great moment, sharing life with someone who has nothing to do with the media, something very different for me, what he gives me is great, simplicity, seeing life from another place, he lives in the countryside , is related to the world of horses, it teaches me to connect with the simplest and most valuable things in life.
News: What happens when you return to Jujuy?
Jimenez:
Love it. Jujuy has always been my place to reconnect with who I am, my family, my people, it always fulfills me a lot. In good times and in sad times, to return to Jujuy is to return to my home. I choose my life to be in Buenos Aires, but I always love to come back. It is my place in the world.
