Soffie, the TikTok phenomenon that makes activists dance in Germany

Hat 24 years old, with bangs, hexagonal glasses and an unexpected success that is overwhelming her. Her name is Sofie Aspacher, but in Germany she is known simply by her stage name Soffie. His little song Für immer Frühling (Forever spring)has become in just a few days the anthem of the anti-racist protests that have brought thousands of German activists to the streets for weeks.

«I dreamed of a land where everyone is welcome»

With its 34 seconds on TikTok, the video of the song was immediately relaunched on social media and obtained 4 million views without even being complete with all the verses. The full version is now out on You Tube, with Soffie singing in the background of the demonstrations, in which she herself takes part as an invited guest on stage. Soffie performed in Mannheim in front of 25,000 people and at the end of February he will be in Berlin, even if for now there are only three songs in his repertoire.

What’s so special about his tune that drove activists crazy? On the one hand the singer uses simple and candid words, on the other the rhythm fully enters the catchphrases suitable for videos and social media. Translated, the lyrics of the song read: “I dreamed of a land where it is always spring, here there is caviar and lobster in abundance, here no one is hungry and cold, vanilla ice cream for dessert, no one is cold.”

“In the land where it is always spring anyone can come and anyone can go, because there is always a place at the table, everyone is welcome no boats sinking in the Mediterranean. In the land where the winters are not so dark, the sky is only blue and pink, power for the children, no more high walls, all the weapons depots are empty.”

On social media his life between music and university

As the German magazine explains Diffus who was the first to detect the phenomenon, “is the perfect soundtrack to not lose hope in times like these – and that’s probably exactly why she quickly made her way from TikTok to the live stages. the song is now streaming on all platforms because at the time of the demo’s publication, there were no more of the two verses that went viral”.

On Instagram, Soffie herself presents herself as a normal girl, who achieved success truly by chance, between one university lesson and another, a make-up session, and many videos in which she is at home accompanied by her guitar.
