Soccer star Neymar Jr supports Superdry’s sustainable efforts

Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr. entered into a partnership with British clothing retailer Superdry Plc two years ago, in December 2020. In this role, Neymar has modeled underwear and nightwear for the brand and is also the face of Superdry’s latest sustainable underwear range.

Neymar is also set to help the brand spread its sustainable vision: it will deliver on its promise to become a 100% organic cotton brand by 2025, five years ahead of schedule.

“When Superdry first contacted me about a collaboration and I was told about the goal of becoming 100% sustainable, I was honored to be part of it. Superdry stands for comfort, which is also very important to me and of course also plays a role in the selection of nightwear and underwear,” comments Neymar in a press release.

“Neymar’s passion for creating positive change aligns with our goals – to make the most sustainable products possible, thereby supporting our planet and our people in everything we do,” said Superdry Founder and CEO Julian Dunkerton.

Superdry is also helping 20,000 farmers in India to convert to organic farming. This is part of the company’s Grow Future Thinking initiative, which received a Positive Change Award at the 2021 Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards.

Dunkerton himself was nominated for the Soil Association’s Organic Ambassador Award as part of the Best of Organic Market (BOOM) awards and was recognized as one of the people who championed sustainability over the past year.
