Actually, Suad Baydoun was looking forward to marrying her sweetheart. But it wasn’t her partner, soccer professional Mohamed Buya Turay, who stood at the altar, but his brother. Because the 27-year-old didn’t have time. “We got married in Sierra Leone on July 21, but I wasn’t there because Malmo asked me to come here earlier,” the striker told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. Buya Turay was sold to Malmo by Chinese club Henan Songshan Longmen.
What caused confusion among fans: he posted pictures of the wedding on his profiles without mentioning his absence. “Today I married my sweetheart, my wife and my best friend!!! What an impressive person!!! And what a blessing!!! (…) I can’t wait to spend my life with you”, he wrote.
Afterwards he explained to “Aftonbladet” that the pictures had been taken in advance. “So it looks like I was there, but I wasn’t,” said Buya Turay. “My brother then had to represent me at the wedding himself.”
The 27-year-old has not seen his wife since the wedding. His plan: bring his partner to Sweden as soon as possible. The honeymoon would be postponed: “First we have to win the league and then I’ll go on the honeymoon.”
