This was announced by the German Football League (DFL) on Tuesday (April 26, 2022).
The justification is: “In this way, the kick-off times for the Bundesliga (3:30 p.m.) and Bundesliga 2 (1 p.m.) will be somewhat equalized again. This adjustment means that matches in the Bundesliga 2 can be followed in full up to the end of the game and with subsequent reporting .”
From 2009 to 2021, the early Saturday games kicked off at 1 p.m. The reform has now been reversed after just one season.
Other times remain unaffected
The other kick-off times in the 2nd division remain unaffected by the changes. So it remains with a Saturday game at 8.30 p.m. On Fridays the games in the 2nd division continue to start at 6.30 p.m. and on Sundays at 1.30 p.m.
