Soccer Bundesliga: Furious Dortmund shoot Wolfsburg from – Bundesliga – soccer

Wolfsburg with horror fifteen minutes

Less than three minutes were played, but it should have been 1-0 for Wolfsburg: Lukas Nmecha failed in the Borussia goal due to the strong reaction of Gregor Kobel. Then only Dortmund played: Julian Brandt (20th) and Marius Wolf (22nd) missed chances. A miserable quarter of an hour then began for VfL.

First, Koen Casteels grabbed a corner from the cheeky Rothe header in the VfL goal. Only 120 seconds later he let Witsel pass a middle shot. Wolfsburg was now totally stumped: Akanji made it 3-0 after a free kick – this time without any fault of Casteels. He was the center of attention again when Can shot from 17 meters. This he let slip under his hands.

Dortmund just kept going: Haaland scored the fifth goal after a cross pass from Marco Reus – Wolfsburg threatened to break up completely. Florian Kohfeldt saw that too and replaced the weak Maxence Lacroix with Kevin Mbabu before the break. After all: There was no sixth goal before the change of sides.

BVB save their strength in the second half

After the break, Wolfsburg went on the offensive for the first time since the third minute: Kobel defused a long-range shot by Jonas Wind (47′). BVB then took control again. Casteels prevented the sixth goal against Reus (50th). Just three minutes later, Haaland filled the half-dozen. Casteels prevented his third goal (61st). After that, the black and yellow slowed down a bit.

The game was coming to an end and BVB coach Marco Rose took his regular players off the field early on to conserve energy. VfL came up with something: Aster Vranxx hit the bar (70th). Substitute Marin Pongracic, on loan from Wolfsburg to Dortmund, made a mistake in the closing stages. Baku used this with a shot in the corner to score a consolation goal for the guests.
