Deserved leadership for Hertha
Hertha deservedly took the lead in front of the 3,000 fans in the first half. Ishak Belfodil’s head came in the 23rd minute after Stevan Jovetic’s free kick from the left 26 meters from the goal. Bochum hardly made an offensive appearance at first.
“After our first half, where we were clearly the better team, we lost touch a bit”said Hertha’s new signing Marc-Oliver Kempf at DAZN after his debut. Because after the break Bochum got stronger.
Substitute Polter scores for Bochum
Bochum coach Thomas Reis replaced Sebastian Polter during the break – and it paid off immediately. Polter scored in the follow-up when Hertha’s goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow only let Jürgen Locadia’s shot slip away (48′). Bochum then partially took control, but failed to score despite multiple chances.
Hertha now in Fürth, Bochum against Bayern
Hertha will play at SpVgg Greuther Fürth next week on Saturday (02/12/2022, 3:30 p.m.). Bochum will host FC Bayern Munich on the same date.
