Defense and Justice surpassed tonight by 7-6 in the penalty shootout to Chaco For Ever after tying 1-1 in regulation time and qualified for the semifinals of the thirteenth edition of the Argentine Cup, a phase in which San Lorenzo awaits them. El Halcón took the lead with a goal from Gastón Togni in the 66th minute and in the 68th minute Jonathan Dellarossa equalized. In the penalty shootout, Defensa y Justicia won a tight duel.
San Lorenzo, their next obstacle, won 1-0 on Tuesday against San Martín de San Juan with a goal from Federico Girotti. The classification of the other two semifinalists will take place on Friday, when Huracán will face Estudiantes de La Plata in Rosario, and Talleres de Córdoba will face Boca Juniors in Córdoba.
The Argentine Cup was played between 1969 and 1970, and was relaunched in the 2011-2012 season. Boca Juniors won the title four times (1969, 2011-2012, 2014-2015 and 2019-2020). River Plate has won it three times (2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2018-2019), and one Rosario Central (2017-2018), Arsenal (2012-2013), Huracán (2013-2014) and Patronato de Paraná (2022 ).
