1. FC Nürnberg lost on Sunday (April 24th, 2022) on the 31st match day of the 2nd Bundesliga 2: 4 against SV Sandhausen and remains in sixth place with 50 points. In the event of a victory, Nuremberg would have moved up to one point to the relegation place. Sandhausen should be almost certain to stay up in the league with an eight-point lead in 16th place.
Sandhausen’s Janik Bachmann got the early lead (4th) for the guests. Tom Krauß brought the “Club” back into play with a left-footed shot into the corner (25′). After the change of sides, Asger Sörensen brought the powerful Nürnbergers closer to the promotion ranks with his opening goal (54th).
Penalty missed – Valentini forgives possible Nuremberg leadership
But the promotion aspirant weakened itself, a mistake by keeper Christian Mathenia enabled Sandhausen’s Tom Trybull (59th) to equalize. Fifteen minutes before the end, Enrico Valentini missed the huge opportunity to give Nuremberg the lead again, failing with a weak penalty shot by Sandhausen keeper Patrick Drewes. Six minutes before the end it was Trybull again who shocked the “Club” with the 3:2 lead for Sandhausen. Pascal Testroet (88th) used another weakness in the Nuremberg defense to make it 4:2.
More to come.
