HeereNVEEN – It is more than half an hour after their impressive farewell in a packed Thialf when Sven Kramer and Ireen Wüst take a seat one by one in the press room of the skating temple in Heerenveen. From their seats they look out over the now empty stands and an ice rink full of hugs that have just been thrown to them by many thousands of passionately compassionate fans. “It felt like I was in a dream and could wake up at any moment,” says Wüst. “Is this real?”
