SOAP CHECK. Marianne Devriese returns to the set and has a spoiler surfaced at ‘Thuis’? † TV

TVWhether it’s ‘Family’, ‘Home’, ‘Neighbours’ or ‘Sturm Der Liebe’: the majority of Flemish people do have a fixed appointment with their favorite soap. We keep our finger on the pulse in soapland so that you don’t get hungry between broadcasts. Because not only on the set, but also behind and next to the screen there is a lot to experience. Discover it every week in our soap check.

‘Home’: Cuddle time again

© RV

Due to the corona measures, there has been hardly any kissing, hugging or grasping in ‘Thuis’ in the past two years. That has recently changed, according to some viewers online. “Do you also notice that the characters are much less distant with each other. We applaud that, because cuddling couples also provide more realism,” it sounds. At ‘Thuis’ the new style is confirmed. “Now that the rules are being relaxed by the government, there can also be more physical contact on set with us”, says ‘Thuis’ producer Hans Roggen. Although we still remain cautious and that rapprochement only happens within the bubbles that the actors form with each other on the set. More intimate contacts, such as cuddling, therefore remain limited. Certainly as long as the quarantine obligation is maintained. After all, our actors are irreplaceable. If they still have to be isolated due to an infection, we will lose them for at least seven days and we have to change the entire planning. We prefer to avoid that. That is why we still work with mouth masks in the studio, even though that is no longer an obligation. Still, we encourage everyone to keep wearing them. But you will certainly be able to see the relaxation on TV.”

‘Family’: Hospital room or shower

What a funny sight! It looks like an image from an operating theater or hospital room, but ‘Family’ actress Sandrine André (Veronique) was standing in her living room in this selfie and because she was doing DIY and painting, she was wearing a shower cap. “Crazy outfit, but handy, because that way I won’t have paint in my hair tomorrow when I have to be on the set of ‘Family’ again.”

According to some followers, this selfie by Katrien De Ruysscher (Judith) and Yemi Oduwale (Dries) on the set of ‘Thuis’ reveals an imminent storyline in ‘Thuis’: “Why are Dries and Judith dressed so beautifully? Of course for Bob and Tamara’s wedding!” Which, according to the same fans, also means that the wedding, which was previously canceled, will indeed continue on May 26. Although there are still non-believers who continue to doubt: “That wedding is canceled again and these cuties are only so beautifully dressed because they are expected at another party: Marianne’s book presentation.” Curious who is right!

‘Lisa’: Dogmom

‘Lisa’ actress Tinne Oltmans (Lisa) has shared an adorable selfie with a dog. Not her dog, but the pet of an acquaintance who had asked her to look after her favorite animal for a while during her absence. That experience turned out to be a success for the actress, because she is now completely won over for such a companion animal in the house. “After just one week of dogsitting, I have completely turned into a dogmom,” she says enthusiastically. Soon also adopt an animal, Tinne?

‘Home’: Popping corks

This is what happens when coworkers become besties: they pop the corks like BFFs and no boys allowed. ‘Thuis’ actresses Lynn Van de Broeck and (Viv) and Tine Priem (Tamara) got to know each other on the set of ‘Thuis’, but also like to hang out outside working hours. The last time there was also something to celebrate, because Lynn’s b&b L’ Atelier, which she runs together with her friend and ‘Thuis’ colleague Mathias Vergels (Lowie), received a four-star rating and is therefore immediately recognized as a luxury b&b. Four stars is the highest number of stars. Well done.

‘Family’: Back on set

Marianne Devriese (42) as director at Familie

Despite the death of her character Iris, Marianne Devriese (42) is again on the set of ‘Family’. Not as an actress, but as a director. “When I said goodbye, I felt that I might still be able to do something behind the scenes of the series, but that was not really concrete,” said the actress. When they asked me to direct episodes, I thought, “Honey, I can’t do that, because others go to school for four years to be able to do that. But after 8.5 years I do know the ropes, the cast and crew, the product… That’s an asset that graduate directors don’t have. So in the end I decided to jump anyway. The advantage is that I now no longer have to sit in the make-up chair in the morning and can arrive a little later. Since I no longer have to be retouched in the afternoon, my break is also longer. I don’t have a box anymore, because they are only for the actors.”

‘Home’ and ‘Family’: Time for self-care

Home actor Christophe Haddad (Bob) opted for some self-care on World Health Day and posted the message: “World Health Day is a day when I like to reflect on the importance of our mental health. What really makes me happy is putting my thoughts to zero and getting a breath of fresh air on the beach.” So did ex-Family face Gunther Levi (Peter) at the time. He went to Tenerife for his portion of ‘zen’, where he visited Mount Teide, among other things.

‘Lisa’ and ‘Family’: Visiting

‘Family’ actress Anne Somers (Veronique), who also appears this month with a guest role in ‘Lisa’, has visited her daughter Mathilde (22) in Finland with her family. She recently moved to Kuopio for an Erasmus internship, which is part of her studies in biomedical sciences. It is her two family visits abroad, because when her son Andreas (24) was on an internship in Beijing, she also visited him.

‘Neighbours’: Still a sequel?

Channel 5

Even though the production house previously announced that ‘Neighbours’ will stop this summer after 37 seasons, Australian broadcaster Network 10 is not giving up the soap completely. Beverley McGarvey, executive vice president of parent company Paramount ANZ, said in an interview that he remains open to a reboot at a later date. “You can call me an optimist, but I remain hopeful that there is still a future. If we do find a foreign financier, we will continue to serve the Australian channel. ‘Neighbours’ is of too much importance to the Australian TV industry.”

‘Family’: The chameleon in us

The Iranian-Belgian ‘Family’ actress Idalie Samad (Bahar) posted a whole series of images of herself in a different outfit each time on Instagram. “As an actor you have to be able to take on different guises and sometimes really transform into someone else,” she says. “Experimenting with different looks makes us a bit like chameleons! That’s one of the best things about acting for me. You can become whoever you want! I always feel better in baggy clothes: they are flexible and super comfy!”

‘Lisa’: Walking against cancer

RV

Would you like to go for a walk with ‘Lisa’ actress Hilde De Baerdemaeker (Suzanne) and support a good cause at the same time? That is possible on May 15. TV face Evi Hansen and ‘Expedition Robvinson’ winner and GP Jutta Borms will also be present that day. Not coincidentally, because Hilde made the podcast and the book ‘Nog 9 minutes’ together with them, about meditation and self-care. The nature walk will count 10,000 steps and is part of the initiative of the pink march for the benefit of Pink Ribbon and breast cancer percentage. Evi Hanssen is also its ambassador. You can register at pink-ribbon.be and derozemars.be
