The quarrel between Jacobus Perdaems and Ilse De Meulemeester started about ten years ago. The Dutch Antwerp resident, owner of the well-known chip shop N° 1 on the Antwerp Grote Markt, thought he had a relationship with the ex-Miss Belgium. He says he showered her with gifts, Porsches, jewelry and money for a total value of 2.8 million euros. Six months later, however, De Meulemeester broke off the friendship. In her eyes, there had never been any question of a relationship.
