‘So you’re actually no fun at all’

Things aren’t going well for Yvon Jaspers. She seems a bit out of fashion – she has never been criticized so often as during the current season of Boerzoekt Vrouw. “You’re actually no fun.”

Yvon Jaspers was once the celebrated woman of the NPO, the presenter who had so much fun with all those helpless farmers in Boerzoekt Vrouw. But it’s a bit off. The way in which those poor candidates are made a bit of a fool of is no longer going down well with people at home. And then Yvon is also playing the kindergarten teacher…

Annoying Yvon

According to Eric de Munck, the feisty entertainment expert from RTL Boulevard, Yvon is a bit passé. “I always found Yvonne Jaspers’ somewhat toddler-like way of presenting irritating,” he sneers The BLVD Podcast.

Rob Goossens, who should beware of this Eric given his increasingly tame analyses, agrees: “Completely agree.”

Eric continues: “I have the feeling that the number of viewers is declining and that people are increasingly thinking: act normal.”

People person

We were collectively mistaken about Yvon, says Eric. “I have the feeling that she is also very busy making TV and that perhaps she is not as much of a people person as she tries to come across on television. I just find her very unsympathetic in the program. Suddenly. And I actually didn’t think that before.”

He continues: “I liked it outside, but in the program I always thought: well, she’s acting quite nice. But now I also think: I just don’t like you at all.”

Dated

Co-host Bridget Maasland thinks that the whole Farmer Seeks Woman needs to be overhauled. “Do you think the whole genre is still relevant today?”

Eric believes that the public humiliations in the program are no longer acceptable in 2023. “I think that the program may have become a bit dated as a result. That we saw it. Time has changed. Maybe we should just say: we’re just not doing it for a while.”

Looking forward to it

Let’s throw Yvon overboard first, Rob suggests. “It seems like she is doing extra hard this season to make herself redundant. As if she has wanted to get rid of that program for years and now she is like: I am going to make myself so unsympathetic that KRO-NCRV says: ‘Well Yvonne, go home. We’ll find someone else.”

He concludes: “And somehow I understand that. I mean: at a certain point, even after so many seasons, we got a bit tired of Farmer Seeks Woman. Then she can do that too. But hey, if she doesn’t like it anymore, just sit at home.”
