Karim Adeyemi switched from RB Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this summer for a whopping 30 million euros. The offensive jewel was not trained with the Red Bulls in Austria, but with SpVgg Unterhaching, for which Adeyemi played for six years as a child and youth. Thanks to a contractual clause, the amateur club made a lot of money from the mega deal.
According to consistent reports, the former Bundesliga club is said to have been involved with a total of 22.5 percent in the resale of Adeyemis from RB Salzburg to BVB, which corresponds to a sum of 6.75 million euros. An enormous windfall for the regional league, whose entire squad of the first men’s team is not worth that much according to estimates.
With a mixture of joy and humility, Haching’s President Manfred Schwabl speaks on the “Sky” microphone about his plans for how the millions should now be planned: “No matter what the sum is: It has certainly helped us tremendously! You have to tackle this very solidly and sensitively.”
Unterhaching is coached by ex-Bayern star Sandro Wagner
The 56-year-old is already certain that the Gro should not be spent on the fourth-division squad, which has been coached by former national player Sandro Wagner since last season and is currently the leader in the Bavarian regional league.
“We will continue to invest in young talent and in the infrastructure, of course we will reduce legacy issues and put a little something aside in case the next crisis comes. The main part goes where it comes from: in the youth academy and the infrastructure. I think , we are well advised to remain calm for now,” explained Schwabl.
In 2020/2021, SpVgg Unterhaching was relegated from the 3rd division as bottom of the table and has been fighting to return to professional football ever since. Between 1999 and 2001, the Munich suburban club played in the Bundesliga for two seasons.
