Chantal Janzen causes surprise when she reveals that she has no influence on the broadcast location of her new drama series One Big Family. “You are the great Chantal Janzen, aren’t you?!”
The amount of media attention for Chantal Janzen’s new drama series is a bit disappointing. Only the first episode of One Big Family was shown on RTL 4, but all episodes after that can only be seen on Videoland. And although that is the new-fangled viewing, linear television is still a more prominent stage in 2023.
‘Also on RTL 4?’
Actually, you hardly hear anyone talking about Chantal’s series. “I hope we can make a season two,” she says in the radio show The Friday Move on BNR Nieuwsradio.
Host Wilfred Genee: “So Videoland first and then it will also be on RTL 4?”
Chantal: “Well, no, it’s actually the other way around. The first episode will be on TV and the rest will be on Videoland.”
Wilfred: “So you can only see the first one and not the rest?”
‘What is Peter doing?!’
Chantal hints that she is not happy with that either. “I can not help it.”
Wilfred believes that such a prominent production belongs on a mass medium, i.e. on RTL 4. “What is that Peter van der Vorst doing?”
Chantal: “Yes, he wants people to come to Videoland.”
Wilfred: “Yes, I understand that too, but this is not possible.”
No influence
Chantal then indicates that she has no influence on those types of decisions. “I can’t help it, I can’t help it.”
Wilfred is very surprised by that. “But you are the star of RTL. You are the great Chantal Janzen.”
Chantal: “Those are your words.”
Wilfred: “Hello! You have won the Televizier Star 56 times!”

Chantal repeats that she really has no say in that regard at RTL. “No, but I really can’t decide about those kinds of things, what will be on Videoland and not, no.”
Wilfred: “That’s not possible! I think it’s scandalous.”
