Heineken will stop in Russia, at least partly, Bavaria will not. The three beers of Swinkels Family Brewers, as the Lieshout brewer is called today, will continue to be available in the country that has since been laundry list of companies has been banned because of the Ukraine war.
Why does Heineken intervene and Bavaria not? The big difference between the two beer giants is the presence of their own breweries in Russia. Heineken has seven branches there, ‘Swinkels’ has the three beers brewed under license by a local, large brewery about twenty kilometers from the center of Moscow. That’s where the Moscow Brewing Company (MBC) is located.
