Snowboard legend Shaun White slips up – then tears fall

After just a few seconds, the dream of a medal was shattered. But it wasn’t just the missed podium that made Shaun White unusually emotional.

Snowboard icon Shaun White says goodbye to his last competition without a medal. In 2006, 2010 and 2018 he won Olympic gold in the halfpipe, at the end of his career it was only enough for fourth place. After his last attempt at the Beijing Games, the American became very emotional. “Thank you snowboarding, you were the love of my life,” said the 35-year-old tearfully in a TV interview.
