Snowboarder Ramona Hofmeister has once again confirmed her top form.
The athlete from WSV Bischofswiesen won the parallel slalom in Bad Gastein on Tuesday (January 16, 2024), celebrating her fourth victory in the fifth race of the season. “It’s brutal. The fourth win this season. I am incredibly proud“, said the 27-year-old after her renewed success.
Hofmeister: Final victory against third place in the World Cup
In the final she narrowly beat third place at the World Cup, Sabine Schöffmann from Austria. Hofmeister, who defeated her teammate Melanie Hochreiter in the quarterfinals of the floodlit event, also extended her lead in the overall classification with the 19th World Cup victory of her career. In 2020, 2021 and 2022 she finished the winter as the best raceboarder. Bad Gastein is “one of her favorite races” she revealed afterwards. “I was able to achieve my first World Cup victory here.”
In her current condition, the 27-year-old is once again the big favorite to win the overall World Cup. It is a “incredible season so far“, she said and acted aggressively. She had “Want more“, said the woman from Bischofswiesen, who wanted to shower her victory in typical Bavarian style.”Now let’s have a beer.“
Men: Italian wins – Baumeister seventh
In the men’s race, Stefan Baumeister failed in the quarterfinals against the eventual winner of the day and came seventh.
Victory was secured by the Italian Maurizio Bormolini, who, like Hofmeister, was able to win first the qualification and then all of the finals. In the grand final, the now four-time World Cup winner defeated parallel slalom vice world champion Arvid Auner from Austria.
