Snowboard crosser Martin Nörl suffered a setback at the World Cup in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The 29-year-old World Cup leader failed in the round of 16 after a fall through no fault of his own. Last winter’s overall World Cup winner won the first competition of the season in December and finished on the podium in all other races.
His compatriots Paul Berg and Leon Backhaus, like Nörl, failed in the round of the top 16. Umito Kirchwehm was the only German to make it into the quarter-finals, but he also dropped out after a fall. Frenchman Merlin Surget secured victory in Italy ahead of Jake Vedder from the USA.
