At least two people were killed in Poland due to the extreme weather conditions. In Cisiec, an elderly woman died after a fallen tree severely damaged her home. In Gdansk district, a woman succumbed after her car crashed into a tree.
In northern Slovakia, a crisis cell has declared an emergency in 27 municipalities, allowing special emergency measures and restrictions to be imposed. Several popular ski resorts are closed this weekend due to the dangerous stormy weather. Residents of the regional capital Zilina and the surrounding towns were advised not to leave their homes unless there is absolutely no other way.
