The KNMI warns of slipperiness on Friday afternoon. Wet snow is expected then. Because of the expected slipperiness, code yellow has been issued from four in the afternoon to eight in the evening.
During the course of the day the wind will blow harder and then a low pressure area will pass our country. The wind is shifting and so colder air is coming our way, Roosmarijn Knol of Weerplaza explained in radio program ‘WAKKER!’ on Omroep Brabant.
“Ten degrees difference within one country, that is quite unique.”
Because it continues to cool down, we will see snowflakes more often in the course of the day in addition to raindrops. “But that won’t last very long, because we are still a little too much on the warm side of the spectrum.”
The temperature differences are large in the Netherlands on Friday. Where it was about ten degrees here early in the morning, the temperature in the north of the country was around freezing. A real contrast, Roosmarijn emphasises. “Ten degrees difference within one country can be called quite unique. In that cold part of the country, two to five centimeters of snow can fall this Friday.”
“Saturday will be a very nice day.”
Saturday will be a very quiet day. “With maybe a few winter showers, but that is really a very local phenomenon.” Roosmarijn speaks of a ‘very friendly weather’. “With sun, cumulus clouds and slightly less wind than today. The temperature will then rise to 7 or 8 degrees. A very nice day.”
This changes on Sunday. Then we start in the morning with a few degrees of frost. “In the course of Sunday, the clouds will increase, the wind will pick up and rain will come this way.”
“Temperature shoots up on Monday, but it won’t be pleasant.”
On Monday the temperature suddenly rises. Then it will be 15 or 16 degrees. Exceptional, according to the weather woman of Weerplaza. “But we will have to deal with full rain and a lot of wind. So it won’t be really pleasant.”
