Snoop Dogg has “nothing but love and respect” for Donald Trump

He previously publicly criticized the former US president. Now he’s showering him with praise.

Snoop Dogg has heaped praise on former US President Donald Trump. The rapper specifically said: “He’s only done great things for me.”

The pardon of Michael Harris

The musician also gave an example of this in an interview with the “Sunday Times”: “He pardoned Michael Harris.” The 52-year-old is referring to the co-founder of Death Row Records, who has already served 32 years in prison for attempted murder and cocaine smuggling sat in California. Snoop Dogg himself was signed to Death Row Records in the 90s and tried to get Harris released.

His Trump celebration ended with the words: “So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”

Where did the change of heart come from?

Snoop Dogg wasn’t always on Trump’s side. After he became president in 2016, the musician announced that he wanted to move to Canada to escape Trump’s administration. But in the end he didn’t put his plan into practice. Instead, he continued to diss on an artistic level: In November 2017, Snoop Dogg released the cover for his EP MAKE AMERICA CRIP AGAIN, which featured a corpse with the words “Trump” written on it.

In the music video for the track “Lavender” from 2017, the rapper (along with BadBadNotGood and Kaytranada) also spoke out against the ex-President of the USA. Ronald Klump, a clown parody of Donald Trump, holds a press conference in the clip and calls for the deportation of all “Doggs”. Shortly afterwards, Snoop Dogg is seen with a gun, which he aims at the clown, then pulls the trigger and a flag with the word “Bang” appears. Klump is later taken away in chains.

Despite previously distancing himself from the former US president, Snoop Dogg welcomed his decision to pardon Harris in January 2021. “This is great work by the president and his team,” he told the New York Post.
