Snert and stew in the summer? The world championships snert and stamppot will be held in Groningen on June 21th

Snert and stew are pre-eminently dishes that suit an icy winter’s day, but on June 21, Groningen is preparing plenty of snert and stew. During the World Snertkoken and Stamppotkoken World Championships on the first day of the summer season, participants compete for the silver snertslaif and the silver stew serving spoon.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak and the measures in force at the time, both World Cups could not take place in February 2021 and February of this year. A summer edition will follow on 21 June from the kitchens of the Alfa College in Groningen.

Students from the Horeca and Facility Services program are already busy preparing for the two world championships. Among other things, they prepare a script for the event, prepare for hosting and run a shopping square with sales and information stalls.

An expert jury will award points to the participants on various aspects, such as the taste and smell of the snert or stew, the colour, ingredients, hygiene, time, preparation, presentation and originality.
