Gerard previously raised the price of his fries by thirty cents and set up a cold store and deep-fat fryer to save money. According to him, the current government is letting entrepreneurs down. “Just like with the corona, we are the victims again. Then we had to close for eight months.”
Bakers, saunas, garden centers and other energy-intensive companies, among others, will receive a maximum compensation of 160,000 euros for their high energy costs. NOS. Gerard has calculated that he probably spent ‘only’ 11 percent of his turnover on energy.
Nevertheless, Gerard is determined to also face the crisis: “I will not let myself be small, we will continue. I have another great idea and we are going for it,” he says.
What supports him is that his customers don’t abandon him, but just keep snacking with him. “That’s really heartwarming to see,” said Gerard.
